Biography

The band was formed in January 1987 in the Spanish city of Algeciras. The original members were Toni Jurado on drums, Ruben Tamayo on bass, Juan Tamayo on guitar, and Sebastian Guerrero as the sole vocalist. Subsequently, keyboardist Chico Valdivia was added in 1989. After winning a competition in their hometown, they recorded what would be their first studio work in 1990, titled their self-titled “SHALOM,” and under the Barrabas Producciones label, they began their tour with considerable success, entering the top 40 of SER, drawing attention for their fresh and powerful sound. A mix between hard rock and some catchy, commercial themes led them to be remembered and loved throughout a part of Spain.

After a couple of years in their career, the lineup split in 1993, leading their members on different career paths—some continued with their musical careers and others left the profession actively. Another studio work, “Viola Luz,” was released in 1996 under the band’s name: “Séptimo Cielo,” though with a more symphonic style that went largely unnoticed in the music scene.

Many years had to pass until 2022 to witness a reunion of musicians under the name SHALOM, with the participation of Chico Palenzuela, Carlos Armesto, Javi Santana, and Angel Bermúdez, and subsequently the reincorporation of Ruben Tamayo. They formed the lineup, along with Sebastian Guerrero’s voice, and began the band’s journey again. Several concerts and festivals followed in the subsequent years, reviving their songs in a reissue of their first studio work and that, live, sounded just as powerful as in their initial era.

After several changes in their lineup, the formation in 2025 consisted of Eloy Núñez on keyboards, Ruben Tamayo on bass, Ambrosio Marín, Diego Garcia on guitar, and Sebastian Guerrero on vocals. SHALOM aims to record new material again, and we hope you continue to enjoy the future projects that we want to offer with such passion to all rock lovers
